Make Yourself Irreplaceable At Work With These Tricks
If you're doing nothing different, then the result will also be nothing different - be it your career, relationships or co-curricular activities. Most of us are not as focused as required; we are simply doing things robotically, without understanding the motive behind it. Your boss may assign you a task, and you may do it just right, but maybe not as quick and easy as a co-worker.
These things happen because of your approach and attitude towards work. Everybody at your workplace is in the same boat as you, and to make it a smooth ride; you have to adopt new, unique ways.
Here are 7 simple tricks that will make your work a smooth sail.
1. Reach office early
If you reach office even 10 minutes before the scheduled time, you will have a better approach to work than others. There will be a mental ease and you will be less stressful. In those 10 minutes, you can go through the previous day's work and sketch out the plan for the day.
On the other hand, reporting to work late not only creates a pressure on your mind but also leaves a bad impression of your work ethics.
2. Finish priority tasks
Complete the high-priority and difficult tasks at the start of the day even if they are time consuming, for you don't want to be grilled by your boss. Procrastination of important tasks will only land you in trouble.
Once you are done with the priority tasks, your later half of the day will be relaxed and less stressful. You may even get a chance to leave early.
3. Take short breaks
To be more productive at work, you need to take enough breaks. Instead of taking an hour long break, take a few shorter breaks. Long breaks can disrupt your focus and you may not feel like getting back to work. When you take small breaks, it keeps you energetic and motivated.
4. Pay attention to your body
Most of you feel tired at work because you don't pay adequate attention to our body. Since, most of us spend the entire day working on our desktops or laptops, our mental as well as our physical energy gets drained.
Sit straight, don't just keep staring at the screen; blink often. Stretch your hands and take walks. All this will keep your energy levels up and in turn you will be more productive at whatever you do.
5. Learn to say 'no'
When your colleagues come to you for help, don't put your work on side burner to do their work. Either tell them that you have to finish your work first and then maybe you can help them or politely refuse.
6. Avoid multi-tasking
As far as possible, concentrate on one task at a time. Once it's completed, move to the next. If you try to multi-task, there are chances of errors and less efficiency. You may have to rework on the assignment.
7. Change your attitude
This is the most crucial part. If you're negative and always crib about work, there won't be any efficiency. You have to love what you do and give it your all. Keep no stone unturned, think of the company as your own. When you work towards achieving the company's goal, definitely your own goal will also be met.
Think of it as this way- the company should feel your absence when you're not there. Be that good that no one can replace you.
