The meaning of SMS prefixes like AM, DZ, LM etc.(for INDIA):
Notification/Ad/Service provider SMSs have a prefix like AM, DZ, LM etc. in the 'Sender' info e.g. AM-ICICIB, DZ-HDFCBK, LM-FLIPKT.
This format is specified by TRAI and has to be used by the Bulk SMS providers used by these organizations.
The last 6 letters are for the organization to choose(like ICICIB for ICICI Bank).
First Letter - Code for the Telecom Service Provider used by the Bulk SMS provider
Second Letter - Code for the Location of Origin of the message
So AM means that the telecom service provider is Airtel and it originated from Mumbai.
